Charlotte Straker Trust

Our charity, The Charlotte Straker Trust provides 5-star residential, nursing and respite care to the elderly frail in Tynedale.

Our charitable ethos is to accept residents even if they cannot afford to contribute fully towards the cost of their care. An inability to pay is not a bar to entry.

Charlotte Straker Trust is an independent charity which has been serving the community for over 20 years. All our income is put straight back into the operation of Charlotte Straker House to provide the best possible services and meet the changing needs of our residents.

We’ve been improving the lives of older people with our unique brand of support and care since 1992. Our dedicated, well trained team ensure that individuals living in this well-equipped and comfortable accommodation receive attention all day, every day which enhances quality of life for the elderly frail in our care.

There is now a severe shortage of respite care in the district. Hard pressed families and carers are finding it difficult to access respite services, so in an effort to help, the Community Respite Care Bed Appeal was launched in August 2016 in order to provide a local respite service from January 2017.

In April the care home achieved a “Good” rating in all areas by the Care Quality Commission. In addition, the home has recently been graded level 1 (the highest) scoring 127 out of 130 in the Northumberland Council “Quality Weighted Payment Scheme” which inspects care home facilities and nursing standards.

Charlotte Straker House provides a “home for life” and we care for residents from the moment they arrive and for the rest of their lives, thereby giving security to both residents and their families.
