“Shop of the month? Shop of the year. Shop of the North. But most importantly, shop of a book-lover’s dreams … the revamped Forum Books has a growing band of fans and a rapidly rising reputation among the biggest names in publishing.” Living North magazine (December, 2014)

Forum Books is situated on the Market Place, in the heart of the village and has been part of Corbridge life for almost forty years. Now run by Helen Stanton, with over twenty years experience in bookselling and publishing, we’re a boutique independent staffed by bibliophiles eager to talk books and make informed recommendations. We carry an eye-popping, hand-picked and eclectic range of stock. As Paul Torday, author of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, said: “What I like about your shop – what I like about any good book shop – is that I can find something I haven’t seen anywhere else.”

We have a busy events calendar all year round – from debut novelists and local historians, to some of the biggest names in publishing, including Alexander McCall Smith, Victoria Hislop, Kate Humble, Diana Henry, Helen Macdonald and The Stig. To sign up to our email list and receive information on what’s happening, please email –

Forum Kids!, our children’s shop, can be found on Watling Street, stacked with books for every age group, plus specially selected toys, cards and gift wrap – perfect or present buying. We have a reading den where children can hideaway and read the newest books from Julia Donaldson, Jeff Kinney or David Walliams … we run a storytime for under 5s at 10.30am on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Plus lots of activities during the school holidays. Again, to keep up to date with what’s going on, please email Helen.

There’s nothing like a real book, and nothing like a real bookshop.
