There was no grand plan for the stock we sell, it just had to conform to our idea of functionality, beauty and desirability. The one-off, the mass produced, the new and the old and, if it’s fair trade or recycled, that’s even better.
The RE store opened on the 7th of November 2003 in an old converted workshop at the back of a filling station in Corbridge, Northumberland. It’s an old industrial building so there’s a down to earth atmosphere in the stoRE. It’s a great space with its own charm and character and with the aid of scREens, sheds and rooms, all on wheels, we divided it into different environments creating an ever changing and exciting space. We want customers to have a unique experience in store; with colour, pattern, music, fragrance, humour, and the unexpected, round every corner. We hope there’s something for everyone with prices to suit all pockets. You’ll find that many of the one off pieces of furniture used for display are also for sale which helps with our ever changing appearance. Look our for the REgd. logo – our own REgistered brand of exclusive products designed in-house.
We won Homes & Gardens Magazine Retailer of the Year in 2011, followed by pop ups and concessions in the prestigious Regent Street store Liberty and Baltic centre for Contemporary Art.
And the name RE? It’s a found object itself. Two large metal letters bought in a Paris flea market. Now you know!
